Position Summary

The Contracts Assistant (CA) is responsible for supporting the OSRS contracts teams in all matters related to contracting operations, including the intake and triage of contract agreements, electronic tracking and record keeping, internal reporting, customer contact, assistance with execution of agreements, and final processing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • As requested, CA will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating standard agreements such as standard confidentiality agreements, service agreements, modifications, and amendments.
  • The CA will provide administrative support to contracts teams including intake and database tracking of agreements, preparing weekly activity reports, requesting information from departments, signature routing, filing, scanning, etc. Specifically, the CA will assist contracting staff in: Contract and sub agreement preparation and issuance; communication with Principle Investigators and Departmental Administrators relative to contracting timelines and information needed for contract review; database updating, maintenance and reporting; contract triage, preparation of contract terms and condition summaries for distribution to internal stakeholders.
  • The CA will work with and assist contracts teams in all activities required for negotiation, preparation and/or processing of OSRS Contracts, Industry Sponsored Research Agreements, Service Agreements and Subcontracts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The CA must be attentive to detail and must have excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills as well as a strong ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to assess contract language for key terms and conditions relative to institutional criteria.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize/complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Three years of experience in contract negotiation or research administration, such as legal or paralegal, or federal or industry contract specialist.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related area or Paralegal certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range

$20.15 - $31.26 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
