The Construction Laborer position performs laboring tasks required at varying work areas, i.e. earthwork, excavation operations, concrete placement, Jobsite maintenance, and operations using considerable physical effort in moving and lifting materials. Rates start at $19 - $23/hr. plus overtime!

• Time Off: Position offers 13 days earned time off per fiscal year (starts accruing immediately) PLUS 10 paid holidays.
• Per Diem: Daily allowance for meals, as well as the full cost of hotel stays covered by Matthews and mileage paid for initial and return trips per each on-site project (further than 75 miles of your home).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in direction of construction staff in the day-to-day duties of the operation.
• Inspects and assesses equipment and materials moving to and from work site.
• Acts as point-of-contact to initiate jobs with clients.
• Performs construction labor duties as required.
• Performs site surveys.
• Closes out projects.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Ensures federal, state, and local regulations are satisfied.
• Coordinates projects with subcontractors.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
• Must be able to travel, job locations are across Eastern seaboard.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
• 1+ years of previous construction experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
