Job Description
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for implementing an established program reach strategy to deliver the Association’s Care & Support programs and services as well as produce two Walk to End Alzheimer’s® events to meet or exceed goals. This position is responsible for establishing and managing a prioritized portfolio of community partners as well as recruiting and training volunteers to help deliver on these goals. This position will be based in the following counties: Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto or Vinton OH, and requires frequent travel within the assigned territory. There will also be one or two times a month meeting in Greater Cincinnati. The Community Engagement Manager will report to the Program Director.
Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Care and Support
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting including ensuring data is entered into applicable software and systems (Personify, PVC, etc.)
  • Serving as a resource expert on the topics of dementia care for the Alzheimer’s Association, the program team, and communities served
  • Implementing the established program reach strategy and Association’s common program delivery across the territory
  • Ensuring an adequate number of active volunteers are recruited, trained, placed and retained to meet program needs to achieve goals
  • Representing the chapter as needed at community events and networking groups and refer consumers to 24/7 Helpline for 1:1 support and makes warm transfers as needed
  • Advocating on behalf of those living with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia and their caregiver.
  • Collaborating with community networks, community organizations, service providers, nonprofits and institutions serving underrepresented communities to address health disparities and barriers to Care & Support
  • Leading and conducting Community Forums to develop an informed and community-focused plan for service delivery and a strategy for identifying volunteers, participants, sponsors and community partners for programming and development events
Development
  • Responsible for overall Walk to End Alzheimer’s volunteer committee recruitment and development, team recruitment and retention strategies, budget, timeline, marketing/PR, logistics and best practice implementation
  • Executing plan for maximizing team participation to achieve revenue goals by retaining existing teams, attracting new ones from all sectors of the community and by providing fundraising guidance and support
  • Through volunteer networks, prospecting, cultivating and stewarding Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams, sponsors and walkers
  • Achieving current revenue targets and expense budgets with direct accountability for goals set forth in the annual budget for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in currently in Hillsboro and Portsmouth, Ohio
  • Maintaining year-round relationships with key corporate sponsors and constituents to ensure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities
  • Ensuring Walk to End Alzheimer’s standards are being followed through the execution of the Walk
Qualifications
  • Prefer peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent sales background
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in program and/or clinical management a plus
  • 2-4 years of proven experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals
  • Experience in community health and community mobilization a plus
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, clean driving record and proof of insurance
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • General knowledge of community-based organizations and systems
  • Ability to represent the Association effectively to community partners, community leaders, corporate partners
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs of materials
  • Ability to identify and cultivate relationships with community partners/organizations, including diverse populations, to create sense of urgency related to dementia awareness as a major health issue and motivate all to action
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% including occasional evening and weekend work as needed for the job
  • Proven understanding and experience in community service development and sustained program integration
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn, Luminate/Convio software
