Position Description

The Office of Clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives seeks a dynamic Communications Designer with strong graphic design skills to join our cross-functional creative services team. The Office of Communications is dedicated to providing the Office of the Clerk and other nonpartisan House partners with exceptional customer service, an innovative approach to problem solving, and a wide range of print and digital publications. Examples of deliverables include books, employee newsletters, brochures, event materials, presentations, manuals, reports, congressional testimony, and website content.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team dynamic, manage multiple assignments under strict deadlines, and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing messaging for strategic information campaigns
  • Experience working with print vendors and the ability to document technical requirements in writing
  • Strong project management and customer service skills
  • Advanced use of Adobe CC design software
  • Understanding of the legislative process and interest in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives
  • Five years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, or a related field
  • Ability to act with professionalism and extreme discretion in a politically charged environment
  • Extreme attention to detail and dedication to high-quality deliverables
  • Strong oral communications and presentation skills
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with hands-on print production, using printers with finishing capabilities, printing and mounting signage, and producing other hard-copy deliverables
  • Advanced use of the MS Office suite
  • Demonstrated experience developing visual content for print and digital publications
  • Ability to create, maintain, and follow processes, procedures, and style guides

Compensation

  • Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law)
  • Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B)
