About the Role:


The Communications Support Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting and representing the client’s program. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who has recently graduated and possesses a passion for travel, stakeholder engagement, and public safety. You will have the opportunity to travel to various locations, attend events and conferences, and actively engage with stakeholders to raise awareness about the program.


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):


  • Assist the team to prepare for and execute meetings, including developing agendas, overall logistics, note taking, tracking actions, producing reports, and/or supporting next steps
  • Provide overall programmatic support for project initiatives
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on activities, accomplishments, and challenges encountered while representing the program; provide insights and recommendations to the management team for program enhancement and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Feedback Collection: Collect feedback and suggestions from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and future enhancements of the program; effectively document and relay this feedback to the program management team
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as emergency management agencies, public safety organizations, and other relevant partners; collaborate with these stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and foster engagement with the program
  • Education and Training: Conduct informative sessions and workshops to educate stakeholders about the functionalities, capabilities, and best practices of the program; provide training materials and resources to enhance stakeholder understanding and utilization of the program
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives, effectively collaborating with all parties to successfully fulfill client needs
  • Drive tasks and deliverables from start to finish
  • Identify potential Business Development opportunities when they arise and escalating them
  • Travel and Event Representation: Attend conferences, trade shows, workshops, and other industry events to showcase the program; set up and manage program booths, deliver presentations, and engage with attendees to promote program awareness and gather feedback
  • Program Promotion: Act as a brand ambassador for the program, effectively communicating its benefits, features, and importance to stakeholders, including emergency management agencies, public safety organizations, government officials, and the general public
  • Conduct research on relevant project topics and programs (i.e., conducting interviews, designing surveys, reviewing federal reports, collecting and theming data, etc.)

Location:


You will work remotely, traveling at least 50% of the time.


Required Experience/Skills:


  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • Demonstrate an unflappable attitude even when faced with changes or adversity
  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of professional experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Brings composure and organization to chaos
  • Capacity to self educate on a variety of topics
  • Ability to work independently and take tasks from concept to delivery
  • Receptive to all forms of feedback from clients and colleagues, and proactive to make changes
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by communicating effectively
  • Ability to learn fast and work with all types of personalities
  • US citizenship or permanent resident and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability


Preferred Experience/Skills:


  • Familiarity with the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) Program.
  • Previous experience in consulting, meeting preparation and facilitation, and/or stakeholder outreach
