ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy (TCOP) is managed by the Dean and an actively engaged administrative leadership team. The mission of the college is to Transform Health through educating students to be outstanding and successful practitioners and leaders in the profession; through leading in discovery and innovation of education and practice in pharmacy; and through delivering the highest quality care in diverse, interprofessional clinical and community settings.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The TCOP Communications and Marketing Officer develops and coordinates a wide variety of programs, activities, and special events designed to promote the college. The Communications and Marketing Officer will build and manage the TCOP social media profiles and presence and writes and/or edits and manages marketing and promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, online and multimedia content. This position will also serve as a historian to preserve the college history by chronicling milestones, activities, awards, and achievements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborator and TCOP liaison between USF/USF Health Communications and Marketing and other USF colleges. Assists the TCOP Data Management Division with managing databases on behalf of the college for the purposes of student recruitment, media relations, alumni engagement, and general marketing. Creates reports as needed for stakeholders.
Directs, develops, manages, coordinates, and/or makes recommendations for the development of marketing, communications, and advertising plans and strategies to market, promote, and provide information about TCOP programs, events, services, projects and/or publications. Functions as TCOP’s social media manager, designs, develops, writes, edits, publishes, maintains, coordinates, and/or oversees a variety of print and/or electronic news, feature, marketing, promotional, recruitment, and/or educational pieces, materials, and/or publications for internal, community, university-wide, public, and/or media dissemination; maintains TCOP social media platforms and tracks monthly analytics. Maintains and/or collaborates on the maintenance of web pages.
Disseminates general announcements, calls for stories, and other reminders to the college community. Works with deans, faculty, staff, and students to identify, develop, and market stories that promote and publicize the university’s research projects, programs, events, student activities, community outreach efforts, and faculty, staff, and student achievements. Acts as historian to preserve historical milestones of the college. Serves as gatekeeper of the TCOP calendar of activities and events. Produce and distribute a monthly events calendar for TCOP.
Plans or assists with planning and coordinating special events such as open houses, book signings, fundraisers, outreach and community events, tours, press conferences, banquets, exhibits, product or service fairs, and/or athletic events.
Oversees the production of routine promotional materials in print or multimedia formats including tracking inventory, filling order requests, and restocking materials. Creates guides on best practices for TCOP units and organize training sessions. Selects and recruits vendors to produce materials.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Experience working in higher education; effective and efficient communicator (written and verbal); proficient experience working with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc) as a business tool, Microsoft Office suite, and other creative programs (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.).
