We're looking for a talented and professional individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for answering phone calls, greeting visitors, and handling basic office tasks. Our Administrative Assistant will work in a variety of different environments, so we're looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a friendly disposition and attention to detail.


Candidate should understand social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and implement plans for communicating with community. Send emails, create weekly and monthly newsletters, etc.


SUMMARY:


The position of Cathedral Receptionist is a part-time, hourly position (Monday through Thursday) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (this is negotiable) under the direction and accountable to the Priest. The position serves as a Receptionist to the Priest and for the Cathedral and Her Ministries. The Receptionist is on the frontlines and is often the first person the public sees or talks to. The person in this position performs high level secretarial, clerical, office management, and general administrative duties.


CONDUCT:


Provides secretarial and administrative support under the general day-to-day supervision of the Priest that will support the overall function and activities of the Cathedral.


Serves as receptionist for the Cathedral office, determining the needs of those who call or come in and directing them to the appropriate person or place in the Cathedral.


Ability to protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality. Wisdom to refrain from indiscriminately sharing information is critical. Must exercise discretion in dealing with the membership and the public.


Excellent interpersonal skills. Always be professional when interacting with the membership and the public.


Provides a wide range of administrative, clerical and support functions that assist in the daily operations of the Cathedral. Must be organized.


Position requires good knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.


Able to meet deadlines, remember vital details, and routinely complete assigned tasks in a proficient and timely manner.


Available to assist with other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the Cathedral, as directed by the Priest.


Exhibit leadership and compassion when working with paid and volunteer staff.


Exhibit and utilize effective language and communication skills.


Maintain a sense of hospitality and welcoming in the office and in public interactions.


Work well independently; well organized; self-starter; highly effective people skills; able to multitask.


Familiar with office machines and office procedures; willingness to learn.


Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Access


Typing proficiency.


Data entry and donation contribution management


Job Guidelines:


1. Protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality.


2. Demonstrate an elevated level of trust. (A violation of trust will result in immediate dismissal.).


3. Display the ability to communicate well, both verbally and written.


4. Create an environment that is inviting to people passing through daily.


5. Degree of urgency. Then refer, counsel, or take a message for one of the pastoral staff members.


6. Maintain procedure for handling complaints and problems.


7. Maintain procedure for handling visitors during office hours.


Job Type: Part-time


Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
