About the Position:


Commercialization Manager – Manage commercialization projects across supplements, foods, & fitness while collaborating with R&D, Ops, Compliance, Marketing, & Sales. Manage the full life cycle of product-related projects, including but not limited to new product launches, change management of existing skus, development of different pack-out options for existing products and SKU discontinuations.


Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to innovation, troubleshooting, and brainstorming ideas in a team environment for future platform growth in key consumer needed state areas.
  • Follow up with R&D teams on quotes, bench samples, prototypes, test batches and coordinate/attend trials and first production runs, as needed.
  • Work with Quality and Regulatory on finished product and packaging specifications.
  • Identify and implement new processes and procedures to efficiently drive the business forward.
  • Serve as a primary contact for all contract manufacturers and co-packers.
  • Track packaging artwork needs within new launches & change management, and coordinate the generation of press files with the creative team through proof approval with suppliers.
  • Maintain strong communication to leaders and stakeholders concerning project updates, key deadlines, costs, supply chain, etc., and ensure alignment on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate and organize post launch reviews to identify areas of improvement and what worked well that can be applied to current and future developments. Communicate with contract manufacturers and suppliers on artwork requirements, press files, and proof approvals.
  • Understand customer needs, business needs, and strategy by attending and participating in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Verify formulations, master formulas, product specifications, raw material documentation, packaging components with contract manufacturers.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement process improvement initiatives and develop tools to strengthen the commercialization & life cycle management process.
  • Review the product pipeline, provide status updates, achieve goal realignment, offer recommendations regarding project decisions, and ensure effective use of time and resources
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending regulatory training, educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies
  • Escalate timely and urgent issues and or concerns as the role has the best overall view of all activities and statuses. Bring together team members to prevent and correct issues. Provides status updates until resolution can be met.
  • Identify and overcome barriers to successful product development and assist with project conflict resolution by developing strong interdepartmental relationships with marketing, customer service, sales, supply chain, quality/compliance teams, accounting and operations.
  • Gather all required documentation for product set up.
  • Work with project manager to scope, generate a timeline, define success criteria, and execute new product introductions and changes to existing products such as artwork changes, reformulations, supplier changes, and packaging specification updates.


Requirements


  • Advanced knowledge in more than one of the aforementioned formats (Powders, Capsules, Sports drinks, RTDs, Bars/RTE, etc.) is a must as well as having a proven track record developing clean (i.e. short ingredient list) and delicious supplements that meet specific diet requirements (especially keto, low sugar, gluten-free) at large scale.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year accredited college or university in Food Science, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry or Equivalent BS degree, with 2+ years of experience in R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing and/or Quality Assurance in food and/or supplement industry is preferred.
  • Must have excellent analytical, written, and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex technical information and have an industry-leading understanding of ingredient functionality, product evaluation, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, microbiology, quality assurance principles, and market research practices
  • Must have strong interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, and have the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously in a high-paced environment while staying in control under pressure.
