Atmospheric Scientist Jobs

Carr Astronautics Corporation is seeking an Atmospheric scientist to work on a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) research project.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, master’s degree or Ph.D. in atmospheric science, meteorology or related fields of study.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work as part of a research team to develop and assess Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) applications of satellite data processing for weather/climate applications.
• Prepare written and oral communications. for internal and external consumption.
• Author AI/ML applications in collaboration with research leads and control. configuration of developed code.
• Work with outside NOAA partner-collaborators in a confidential manner.
• Test and evaluate applications.

Requirements

• Must have strong software skills, with Fortran and IDL under Linux highly desirable, and capability to develop science algorithms and support their maintenance.
• Must have strong understanding of Atmospheric Science and/or Meteorology as demonstrated by academic record and/or job history.
• AI/ML experience or academic training is desired. Absent any formal preparation in AI/ML methods, candidate must have a demonstrated capacity to quickly learn and apply such methods, for example: a strong preparation in Math or Computer Science.
