Position Overview: The Mortgage Loan Servicing department is seeking an Intermediate Commercial Mortgage Loan Portfolio Analyst. This position is responsible for surveillance, analysis and communication of mortgage loan status by monitoring real estate markets, asset sectors, borrower income trends and financial ratios and loan payment performance in order to identify potential problem loans for various sophisticated commercial and agricultural mortgage loans portfolios throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
  • Review late payments and contact borrowers to collect unpaid late fees.
  • Keep track of mortgage loan portfolios to identify early warning signs, process any potential borrower payment issues, and communicate updates of mortgage loan surveillance activities to appropriate areas.
  • Identify, initiate and participate in special project initiatives.
  • Analyze mortgage loan legal documents to verify system calculations; research and interpret legal provisions contained within the loan documents pertaining to grace days, default interest, cure periods and calculation methodology.
  • Primary borrower and property manager contact regarding loan servicing questions; collaborate with departments to acquire accurate loan data and coordinate responses to internal and external clients.
  • Prepare and present an analysis of mortgage loan portfolios regarding defaults, potential defaults and the potential for the defaults to be cured.
  • Review and analyze borrower’s request related to leasing, post-closing items and reserve disbursements.
  • Monitor maturity dates of loans, coordinate payoff requests and prepare payoff letters.
Required Qualifications:
Commercial Mortgage Loan Analyst
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills, standout colleague and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to conduct internet research and use industry specific software programs, including the mortgage loan system of record.
  • Knowledge of commercial mortgage loans including background in real estate finance and accounting to analyze financial ratios and understand borrower financial projections, and the ability to understand legal documents.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a commercial real estate and/or finance-oriented area or equivalent work experience in one of the following areas: asset management, property management, or commercial mortgage lending.
Intermediate Commercial Mortgage Loan Analyst
  • Three years previous experience in commercial real estate, finance or related field.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities daily.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to conduct internet research and use industry specific software programs, including the mortgage loan system of record.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills, standout colleague and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial mortgage loans including background in real estate finance and accounting in order to analyze financial ratios and understand borrower financial projections, and the ability to understand legal documents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a commercial real estate and/or finance-oriented area or equivalent work experience in one of the following areas: asset management, property management, or commercial mortgage lending.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and exercise sound business judgment, make recommendations and must be capable of making presentations to Senior Management.
  • Willingness to take on new projects.
  • Critical thinking required in monitoring and surveillance of real estate assets to determine the appropriate action to be taken in regard to leasing activities, collections, post-closing items and reserve disbursements.
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of candidate’s relevant experience and other job-related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
