COMMERICAL UNDERWRITER – City Insurance Landlord/Condo Package Program

Join our City Insurance program as a Commercial Underwriter specializing in Multi-Family, Landlord, Apartment, and Condo insurance for small urban and mixed-use properties. Collaborating closely with a real estate insurance Sales Executive and insurance brokers, you'll ensure accurate underwriting information, eligibility within program guidelines, risk selection, and pricing alignment within program objectives. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating new business applications, cultivating client relationships, providing innovative solutions, and adhering to rating rules. Your expertise in Commercial Package underwriting and strong communication skills will drive your success in this position.
Responsibilities

• Navigate our online broker portal to complete tasks and troubleshoot.
• Create solutions for a broad range of inquiries from brokers and team members.
• Adhere to rating rules with proper file documentation.
• Obtain and understand market intel and trends.
• Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal sales staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting efficiencies.
• Work independently within deadlines while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with both external and internal customers, with the "customer experience" in mind.
• Handle new business submissions through interaction with brokers and carriers. and ensure proper risk selection, premium and coverage.
• Evaluate applications to ensure proper risk selection, premium and coverage within underwriting authority.
• Handle work with a focus on underwriting profitability.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills including negotiation skills.
• Some travel may be required from time to time.
• Minimum of 3 years of Commercial Package underwriting experience required.
• Property and Casualty insurance license required (6 months preparation time permitted).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Eager for continual learning; professional designations are a plus.
• Must be self-driven, detail oriented, and possess strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization.

LOCATION

• This is a remote position.
