Job Description

At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Director of Automotive to join our team. The Commercial Director of Automotive will be accountable for the commercial success of the business, by developing and implementing commercial strategies and plans across all regions and countries to deliver sustainable profitable growth in current and adjacent markets.


Key to success will be building and leading a core commercial team to maximize customer-value and deliver industry-leading profitability, by:

  • Engaging extensively at a global key account level with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Leveraging the industry-leading global manufacturing and supply chain capability of the Division


A key task for the role will be to expand and transition the portfolio to address the super-alloy solutions required in emerging technologies in Transportation, including bio-fuels, e-fuels, fuel cell and battery. The primary focus will be the Tier 1 automotive marketplace where the Division is a leading supplier of super-alloy turbocharger components. The Commercial Director will also lead the diversification into the bio-medical market.

  • Represent the Voice of the Customer within the senior leadership team to ensure that the company reputation and customer relationships are with the company ambition for revenue growth.
  • Ensures short-to-medium term success and
  • Mastery of the marketplace: maintaining and leveraging a deep quantitative insight into global, regional and customer-specific trends.
  • Implement management processes across the Division that ensure consistency in business relationships, the RFQ process, Financial expectations, performance KPI’s, in line with company expectations and values
  • Utilizing a structured and systematic Sales management approach to segment and attack the market.
  • Develop and execute the multi-year commercial “top-line” strategy for the Division that:
  • The longer-term transition to sustainable transport solutions.
  • Structure and negotiate commercial contracts that meet expectations for profitability and cashflow.
  • Identify retention and development strategies for current customers and renewal of LTA’s
  • Talent development
  • Manage contracts-in-place to ensure that customer and company relationship and performance are consistent with expectations on profitability, cashflow, service and quality.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • A technical qualification relevant to the Automotive Tier 1 market-place will be an advantage
  • Experience in SIOP management process with focus on Demand Planning and forecasting is desired.
  • 10 years relevant commercial/sales success at a senior level, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Tier 1/OEM Key Account management
  • Experience in CRM is desired
  • MBA or equivalent will be an advantage
  • Experience in super-alloy/metals (or comparable) industries is required.
