Job Summary: To provide basic elder care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and assists in the maintenance of the household.

Essential Functions:

• Other duties as assigned
• Understands and implements infection control standards especially hand washing and linen handling
• Perform basic household functions including spot cleaning of closets, high stand, beds, mattresses, side rails, drawers and over bed tables
• Charts all pertinent information in appropriate place or flow sheet
• Assists with personal care under the supervision of the household nurse
• Assist co-workers in tidying dayrooms, utility rooms, spa, and any other areas around the household
• Observes confidentiality of residents, employees and facility information
• Provides PROM to elders
• Adheres to Resident Bill of Rights
• Serves, assists and feeds residents at mealtimes

Physical Demands: Be able to deal effectively with residents who may be physically and mentally abusive, have a good understanding of basic body mechanics, able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and be able to push/pull up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, bend, and walk. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proficient technical and communication skills
• MUST HAVE CNA AND BE ON MINNESOTA REGISTRY
• Able to speak, read, and write the English language

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in long term care
