Job Description
Summary The engineer will be a member of the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) and Environmental Barrier Coating (EBC) materials and processing team whose mission is to advance state of the art CMC’s and EBC's and enable CMC technologies for commercial and military aerospace applications. In this role, you will primarily lead and partner with other materials engineers and a vertically integrated supply chain to apply and advance modeling for CMC raw materials, for CMC components including thermal processing, and for component coatings. The models leverage microstructure, manufacturing, and DOE data. The models are applied to innovate the next generation of processing equipment, define and establish operating/design parameters, validate process changes, and support root cause investigations.


Roles And Responsibilities


  • Lead and advance technology readiness levels for CMC process models.
  • Support data analytics and modeling of manufacturing processes
  • Document technical data and lessons learned
  • Lead and partner with multi-disciplinary teams and Supply Chain to support CMC technology maturation programs, root cause investigations, and other process or material development to support current fielded products like LEAP and GE9X
  • Participate on cross-functional teams analyzing and resolving problems
  • Develop and execute CMC roadmaps that support component durability, performance, and cost out.
  • Develop next generation CMC materials and processes to support future components


Required Qualifications


  • A minimum of years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college within the fields of Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.


Desired Characteristics


  • Skilled with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of fluid flow and chemical reactions. Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS or ABAQUSand COMSOL preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with data and statistical analyses
  • Graduate Degree
  • Skilled with Object Oriented Programming Languages such as C/C++ and Python
