Cloud Engineer - Entry Level

This is a hybrid position which requires a minimum of 3 days a week in office in the west end of Houston. Any out-of-state applicants will be discarded.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to recent growth, we are seeking an ambitious person who will learn both our business as well as our clients’ businesses by starting out as a “Cloud Engineer” for our cloud team. For the right person, this will be the jumping off point for a promising career as we work with the latest and greatest technologies.

POSITION:

The candidate will be a talented and motivated individual with effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. To be successful in this role, you should be highly customer focused and have excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with any of the major cloud providers, with the ability to prioritize tasks. Ultimately, you will ensure that their cloud infrastructure runs as smoothly as possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conversion of legacy applications to cloud native applications
• Aiding in the planning and documentation of cloud strategy
• Ensuring the team is using security best practices for all deployed cloud solutions are secure, scalable, cost effective and within the client budget.
• Setting up policies and procedures around access control, code deployment, and source control
• Assess and document client's current infrastructure and legacy applications.

SKILLS:

• Proficiency on one or more of the following cloud platforms is a must: AWS, Azure or GCP
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming and scripting languages
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience working with distributed systems made up of multiple microservices
• Linux and Windows Server knowledge
• Excellent software troubleshooting experience
• Strong knowledge of DevOps processes such as CI/CD and IaC
• Working knowledge of APIs and how to protect them using authorization and authentication policies
• Proficiency working with various scripting languages such as PowerShell and bash
• Working knowledge of docker, Kubernetes and serverless

REQUIRMENTS:

• Any cloud-based certificates are an asset
• College diploma or university degree in a technical field
• Must be a US citizen and located in Houston Texas
• Only permanent employees at this time.
