Job Description

Summary

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is seeking a full time Clinical Research Technician to work on multi-center investigational and observational cystic fibrosis studies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a team player, work well independently and enjoy working with both pediatric and adult research subjects.

Responsibilities*

This position may independently provide study coordination for simple and moderately complex clinical research studies. As a member of a coordination team, this position may help support a portfolio of projects with varying levels of complexity. Mastery of all job duties from previous job description is required.


Knowledge of all 8 competency domains is expected and experience within applicable domains specific to unit needs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identify eligible study subjects
  • Collect and process specimens collected from study subjects
  • Assist with regulatory activities
  • Coordinate, facilitate and conduct correct timing of study visits and procedures with patients and staff
  • Obtain informed consents from study subjects
  • Conduct/schedule study participant visits

Supervision Received:

This position receives direct supervision and reports directly to CRC-Lead, CRC-Project Manager, a unit Administrator, Director, or Faculty Principal Investigator.

Required Qualifications*

  • Ability to travel to study-related meetings as needed and attend National meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Minimum 1 year of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary or An advanced degree in a health-related area such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD. or Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.
  • Associate degree or equivalent in combined education and clinical research experience
  • Experience using Redcap, EPIC or MiChart
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Direct experience in clinical research is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Medical terminology
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in health science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.
  • Clinical patient experience
  • Professional certification through ARCP (CCRC) or SOCRA (CCRP)
  • Experience using eResearch applications and OnCore
  • Phlebotomy proficient
