Job Description
Job Title: Research Coordinator Job Summary: This position is in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL). The Project Facilitator will provide technical project facilitation support for the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL). The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, planning, technical writing, and presentation skills, and have experience supporting large technical science projects or programs. The candidate will support projects focused on the modeling and prediction of the conditions of the Great Lakes, including circulation, lake levels, waves, coastal flooding, and related environmental conditions. Responsibilities Include: Utilizing expertise in project guidance to work with technical project staff and project partners, clearly defining project objectives and outcomes Developing project schedules, including milestones and deliverables, and tracking and reporting progress against project goals Supporting the clear identification and assignment of project tasks Serving as a liaison between GLERL project leadership and a wide range of external project partners and stakeholders Identifying project risks and determining methods of mitigating or reducing the potential impacts of these risks Building strong working relationships and collaborating with staff at all levels Tracking allocation of project resources, including budgets and expenses Providing project quality assurance reviews and maintaining quality management records Supporting program reporting and record-keeping through updates to project databases and maintaining internal NOAA project records Planning, scheduling, leading, and facilitating virtual and in-person project meetings, including small team meetings and larger project workshops This includes development of meeting agendas, planning of meeting logistics, dissemination of meeting materials to participants, and communication of meeting outputs Documenting and sharing products from team meetings, including minutes, white papers, and reports Leading meeting discussions and facilitating participation from among attendees Assisting with the layout, writing, and editing of technical reports, white papers, and other project documentation Assisting with drafts for written content to reach external audiences on various platforms, such as websites, blogs, and social media Coordinating with technical staff to develop presentation slides and materials to describe project subject matter and progress Developing figures, graphics, and images to support communication of project plans, results, and outputs for publications, presentations, and other online dissemination Assisting with written plans to describe project transition and deliverables Required Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, operations, business, management, public administration, or related field The ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience in related duties Experience in creating technical publications and reports Experience in creating presentations for a technical and non-technical audience Knowledge of office productivity software Desired: Experience in organization of technical projects, including creating plans, managing tasks, building schedules, tracking milestones and deliverables, and leading meetings for multi-year projects Experience in planning and facilitating meetings and workshops Experience and/or expertise in organizing technical science projects Work experience and/or college coursework in relevant science and engineering subjects Work Setting and Environment: Monday - Friday, normal working hours Work is to be performed at NOAA's facilities in Ann Arbor, MI Occasional travel to meeting locations How FedWriters Will Compensate and Appreciate You: FedWriters offers team members the opportunity to gain a lasting impression in this fast-growing small business.
