Job Summary

The Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (LCN) at Boston Children’s Hospital are committed to improving the lives of children throughout the world. Our multidisciplinary team of researchers brings together experts from a wide range of fields – including neuroscience, psychology, and medicine – who are working to expand our knowledge of the developmental consequences of early life stress to translate what we learn into better outcomes for all children and families.

The Clinical Research Assistant I (CRA) will join the Healthy Baby Study (HBS) team in the lab of Dr. Charles Nelson. The CRA will assist with daily operations and implementation of research procedures for HBS, a longitudinal study investigating how stressful experiences in the first years of life may influence children’s brain and behavioral development. The project uses electroencephalography (EEG), biospecimens, and behavioral measures to follow children from 2 months to 7 years. Responsibilities include testing infants and children following established research protocols and assisting with data maintenance, processing, and analyses. The CRA will work closely with other CRAs and the Clinical Research Coordinator to implement research procedures under the direction of the project’s Principal Investigator and Research Manager.

This is a full time (i.e., 40-hour week) position. A two-year commitment is preferred.

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, child development, cognitive science, neuroscience, or related field
  • Experience working with infants, young children, and/or diverse populations
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including some evenings and weekends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of motivation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Outstanding organization and attention to detail

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a research setting, preferably using behavioral or neuroimaging measures
  • Demonstrated empathy and listening skills
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems, basic statistics software (e.g., Excel, SPSS), and basic experimental presentation and collection software (e.g., ePrime, REDcap, Matlab

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.

Boston Children’s Hospital requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and Flu, (unless you are eligible for a medical or religious exemption).

Boston Children’s Hospital is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status or disability.
