Clinical Lab Scientist Jobs

Under the direction of the Department Manager and/or Supervisor the CLS is responsible to perform laboratory testing following the policies and procedures of the Laboratory Department and the hospital. Performs moderate and highly complex tests. Reads and reviews written procedures, product inserts and instrument operator manuals to have a thorough understanding of all aspects of sample processing and testing for procedures performed. Has extensive knowledge on all aspects of testing done in-house including clinical significance, and is capable of communicating this knowledge to nurses, physicians, technicians and phlebotomists. Has general knowledge of frequently ordered reference lab test including clinical significance and can provide helpful information to nurses, physicians, technicians and phlebotomists. Demonstrates ability to research information needed on esoteric reference lab tests and provide helpful information to nurses, physicians, technicians and phlebotomists. Efficiently prioritizes assigned work to meet expected turnaround times. Accurately analyses specimens, assuring that specimen quality is acceptable for testing. Aliquots and maintains specimens in a manner that retains specimen integrity for tests ordered.
