Clinical Lab Assistant Jobs

The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Clinical Lab Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the Biospecimen Repository Research Laboratory and the Translational Pathology Tissue Core Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The Clinical Lab Assistant performs laboratory and documentation procedures, in compliance with USC Human Subjects Research policies, related to procurement, processing, banking and distribution of biospecimens in a CAP/CLIA certified environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Procuring and processing tissue and fluid samples from human subjects as part of clinical trials, translational and basic science research: direct contact with clinic, radiology, ORs for scheduled procedures and status checks.
• Assisting in the administrative aspects of the Biorepository, including organizing and managing biospecimens requests/projects, new protocols and managing current protocols.
• Accessioning biospecimens into the Specimen Management System, including tissue for various USC IRB approved studies.
• Assisting with the retrieval and organization of biospecimens (frozen/fresh tissue, fluids, blood products, FFPE blocks etc.) for researchers/clinician requests.

• Maintaining all relevant equipment (e.g. centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, incubators, biosafety cabinets).
• Monitors incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Maintaining and organizing laboratory supplies, monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
• Handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with applicable safety protocols.
• Identifying and separating specimens to be referred to outside laboratories or to other USC laboratories for analysis.

The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. Hourly range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $18.41 - $24.93. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience

Minimum Education: Related undergraduate study, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 0 - 6 months Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience as a laboratory assistant in a clinical lab.
