Role: IT - Consultant V (Clinical Informaticist)

Location: San Diego - CA

Duration : 1 year + extension

The Clinical Informaticist provides expert-level knowledge and guidance in the integration of the healthcare, cognitive, and information sciences to enhance the management of healthcare delivery and information. As a member of the County of San Diego EHR Program Office, this role will work closely with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, healthcare provider staff, and clinical systems vendors to analyze the systems, workflows, processes, and constraints involved in the deployment, maintenance, and operations of Electronic Health Record systems and associated clinical systems.

This position requires RN licensure for nursing specialties in addition to relevant experience in the appropriate specialty area of the Ambulatory, Acute Care, or Informatics environments.

Knowledge Of

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Subject matter expertise and/or experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more clinical and business functions
Interoperability of healthcare data across vendors, including mapping of clinical content to the associated data standards and clinical terminologies
Ability to apply program/project management methods and processes to define, plan, cost, resource, track and ensure the accomplishment of targeted goals for a large enterprise
In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare information management.
Current technology and trends in the Healthcare IT profession
Skills And Abilities
Act as primary point of contact between clinicians and clinical systems vendors in their appropriate specialty area
Promote and support clinical best practices in the development and support of clinical workflows, complying with guidance from regulatory agencies
Understand problems from multiple perspectives and propose the implementation of a solution that completely and correctly addresses the problem with a constant focus on care delivery and population health
Provide input on all project plans, schedules, and dashboards
Advocate for physician, clinician, nurse, and Agency needs in accordance with organization policies and procedures
Provide consultative advice and support to EHR and clinical staff
Analyzing and interpreting data to identify areas that need improvement.
Collaborating on improving standards of care, policies, and procedures.
Ensuring compliance in healthcare information management regulations.
Documenting processes, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
Keeping abreast of advancements in the field of health informatics.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and persuasive communications of complex concepts for multiple audience contexts and formats, actively listen, and project a credible image
Education/Experience

• Three to five years of specialized experience with clinical systems adoption.
• Three to five years of specialized experience in supporting Clinical Information System or EHR tools, platforms, and data.
• Degree or certification in Health Informatics strongly preferred.
• Exceptional knowledge of health information system design and database management.
• Nursing degree coupled with a strong clinical background or relevant experience in the appropriate specialty areas of IT in an Ambulatory or Acute Care setting.
• Superb analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
