The AFRL Munitions Directorate seeks to hire a DR-IV, Information Officer, multi-diciplinary position with series DR-0854 and/or DR-1550 — Principal Computer Engineer, or Principal Computer Scientist - in the RW Chief Engineer's Office at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 yea rs' experience leading science and technology, research and development, and technical workforce development including leading information technology And its management. A technical or scientific terminal degree is highly desired. Plus, a minimum of 3 years' experience working at Branch (e.g. second-tier work center) and/or Division (e.g. third-level work center) in or with a Department of the Executive Branch(e.g. DoD, DoE, OSTP, etc.) is required. A strong candidate will have experience in an R&D lab, leading basic to advanced technology development, but the ideal candidate will have clearly demonstrated excellence in stewarding a technical workforce to meet strategic goals of the organization with moderate experience in information technology and management. A highly desirable candidate has also demonstrated experience engaging with internal and external partners, including industry, academia, and allies; and advising senior leadership on matters related to science and technology and some experience associated with information technology. Position duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as the Chief Information Officer with the responsibility and authority for the development and implementation of the Munitions Directorate (RW)’s information technology (IT) strategy, guidance, and policy. Enables RW’s mission through the effective use of information resources and information technology. Collaborates with the Chief of Digital Materiel Management, Chief Data Officer, Digital Materiel Management Branch Chief, Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Branch Chief, and Corporate Systems IT Operations Branch Chief to achieve cross-directorate synergies. Ensures IT infrastructure alignment with RW’s digital materiel management requirements for science and technology (S&T) and business process data. Utilizes multidisciplinary technical knowledge and tracks the latest IT trends and developments to provide expert advice on IT best practices as well as hardware and software investment decisions. Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with key IT stakeholders at multiple levels across AFRL, AFLCMC/EB, 96th Test Wing, and other relevant government and industry partners at the national and international level. Ensures IT services are delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds organizational priorities and expectations. Champions the integration and/or connection of disparate, standalone computer networks/enclaves to make data more readily accessible across the RW enterprise. Develops and promotes cybersecurity requirements and procedures to protect sensitive data on government and contractor networks.

Required Qualifications

US Citizenship. 0854 = Have a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering from a curriculum (1) in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineer curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (beyond first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics; (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics - OR- Have a combination of education and experience-college level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences, and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. All applicants MUST submit copies of transcripts in order to be considered for this position. 1550 = Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR-03/GS-14 or equivalent grade level. Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N).
