Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Food Distribution


Company Overview Our client is a leading national food distribution company with headquarters in Philadelphia. This family-owned business has engaged us to identify its next high-energy and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With a strong commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, our client is a trusted name in the industry. The CFO will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial operations, strategic planning, and ensuring the company's financial health and sustainable growth.


Position Summary The CFO will be responsible for providing strategic and hands on financial leadership and driving the company's financial performance and growth. Reporting directly to the owner, the CFO will collaborate with the entire executive team, lead the finance and accounting team, and provide expert guidance to ensure the company's financial stability, operational efficiency, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities


  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Implement risk management policies and procedures and oversee insurance coverage to protect the company's assets and mitigate financial exposures.
  • Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and timely delivery to relevant stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Capital Management and Financing
  • Evaluate potential investments, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, conducting thorough due diligence and risk analysis.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the audit process to ensure adherence to reporting standards.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to assist in strategic decision-making and capital allocation.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Develop and retain top talent, ensuring the team has the skills and expertise required to support the company's growth and strategic initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assess the company's capital needs, structure, and sources of funding, and work closely with the owner and executive team to develop and execute financing strategies.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Analyze financial data, market trends, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities and risks and make strategic recommendations to the executive team.
  • Team Leadership
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the finance/accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management
  • Optimize working capital, manage cash flow, and oversee treasury functions to ensure adequate liquidity and financial stability.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support the company's short-term and long-term goals.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Experience as a CFO or Controller in a company with revenues in excess of $300 million is strongly preferred.
  • High integrity and ethics, with a commitment to transparency and compliance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and to lead and inspire others.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Five Days a week on site.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, ideally within the food distribution industry or related sectors.
  • Only Local Candidates will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing financial strategies that support business growth and profitability.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
