Job Description

for the Chief Engineer I

Under the general supervision of the Chief Engineer II, Facilities Operation and Maintenance Section (FOMS), the Chief Engineer I, independently performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting, electrical, plumbing, and other building related systems at five California State Lottery (Lottery) district offices and one regional warehouse, all located in the Southern California region. The incumbant shall travel daily between these facilites in the Southern California region as work requires. The Chief Engineer I is a lead position and works with maintenance staff mentoring, training, and assisting with work tasks and projects. The Chief Engineer I will also work as a point of contact on special contracts when needed.

This position requires possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) section 608 Technician certificate and a valid California Driver's License.

Desirable Qualifications for the Chief Engineer I

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience with installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing of network cabling infrastructure.
  • Experience with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Experience with commercial door systems.
  • Experience with commercial building management systems, including; programming, installation, troubleshooting repairing and replacement.
  • Experience with security monitoring systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with commercial plumbing systems, including; gas piping, sewer piping, and pressurized potable water systems.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with commercial electrical systems, including; installation, troubleshooting, repairing and replacement.
  • Experience with commercial heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including; installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacement.

Pay: $6,519.00 - $6,846.00 per month
