Your broad goals will be to establish and implement a corporate strategic DEI vision as an integral member of the executive team and develop and oversee companywide DEI strategies to ensure an equitable work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities
  • Act as senior level adviser and coach leaders on diversity, equity, and inclusive issues, strategies, and operational programs.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, diplomacy and empathy when working across groups. Cultivate and maintain trusting, collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the HR division and executive leadership team that inspires and encourages others to deliver their best performance and builds diversity and inclusion as key components of leadership, business planning, and customer service.
  • Continually sustain the Inclusive Leadership Competencies (ILC) through the Ambassador level on an annual basis.
  • Provide vision for the development of diversity, inclusion, equity, and organizational structure, including the planning, implementation, and administration of programs and policies as well as the execution of critical special projects. Ensure awareness of current trends, laws and regulations and other factors influencing DEI programs.
  • Strategic community involvement by representing the organization at industry events and meetings. The goal is to enhance diversity in community engagement by encompassing the myriad of physical, intellectual, geographical, cultural, educational, social, and philosophical characteristics that allow community members to feel heard and valued.
  • Present periodic analysis and research results in the DEI space, including key performance indicators, analysis of key business trends, and actual versus forecast variances, with comprehensive executive-level explanations.
  • Develop and maintain key business relationships, and represent SAIF in highly sensitive interactions with policyholders, agents, and other external customers.
  • Provides strategic direction for training initiatives on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, building a climate of equity and inclusion, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values.
  • As a member of the executive leadership team participate and partner in planning and decision-making processes to manage the corporation including establishing short- and long-term corporate business goals, communications, contributing to the corporation’s strategic plan, and developing and implementing corporate policies, programs, and operations.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member with other SAIF leaders and serve as a trusted resource and partner to enterprise-wide leadership and divisions.
  • Set clear direction and objectives that are aligned with SAIF’s vision and mission. Drive employee engagement and team effectiveness through effective communication and by creating and maintaining an environment where individuals are empowered, motivated, and where the importance of collaboration within and across divisions / teams is fully understood and encouraged. Recognize individual differences while focusing on team cohesion. Develop and sustain an inclusive collaborative team environment to support diverse team members throughout the division.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees who manage performance or behavioral matters within the team. Ensure all related activities comply with personnel policies and procedures and are completed in coordination with human resources.
  • Experience and understanding of the layers in systemic biases. Application for change is evident in specific ways and in examples displayed over the past few years.
  • Champion the business value of DEI, skillfully and consistently identifying how cultural differences can lead to new opportunities and add value to the organization.
  • Model adaptability and consistently seek to understand other world views, perspectives, and approaches to work.
  • Develop, sustain, and measure diversity, equity and inclusion strategies, objectives, and goals consistent with the corporation’s mission, as well as supporting the achievement of the corporate strategic plan. Analyze results of DEI initiatives to measure progress and suggest improvements related to hiring, promotion, pay equity, employee coaching, etc.
  • Embody the leadership principle that real people depend on us each day by personifying the dedicated advocate and taking opportunities to make each customer interaction the best possible.
  • Build a team culture in which differences are embraced. Regularly expose team members to diverse perspectives and leverage differences to strengthen workgroup performance. Create and maintain an accepting, empowering environment that makes all employees, regardless of background, feel valued and motivated.
  • Contribute business insights and expertise to the strategic development and implementation of DEI initiatives and the development of progressive, business-focused inclusive strategies that meet the current and future needs of the organization.
  • Develop annual budgeting to ensure appropriateness of fund requests. Manage the budget throughout the year.
  • Manage staff by utilizing the performance management process, clarifying job responsibilities and performance expectations, establishing goals and job competencies, identifying skill gaps, creating development plans, coaching on a continuous basis, and evaluating performance. Responsible for the hiring and termination of employees and determining wage and salary levels within SAIF policy guidelines.
The following qualifications are recommended:
  • Ten years of experience developing programs collaboratively that advance diversity education, multicultural awareness, and address the needs of underrepresented populations.
  • Experience leading workers’ compensation and/or other property/casualty insurance functions
  • Two or more years’ experience providing supervision
  • Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.
  • DEI professional certification preferred (Cornell, Diversity Training Institute, etc.).
  • Five or more years of high-level strategic planning experience desired.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, sociology, human resources, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging or other related subjects.

Compensation & Benefits
Typical hiring range:‏‏‎ ‎$152,955‏‏‎ ‎-‏‏‎ ‎$186,945.‏‏‎ ‎The pay range for this position is annually based on a full-time schedule. Actual compensation will be determined using factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications & education.
