Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining data quality for the enterprise chemical inventory management software including managing the integrity of chemical databases, and reviewing and reconciling chemical inventory data for rooms in multiple buildings throughout the university. Collect, analyze, and disseminate data for one or more business subject areas (e.g., laboratories, facilities). Provide support on various analyses and reporting services that include assisting users to understand the features of the chemical inventory system, identifying user requirements or bug reports, and presenting data in written reports, oral presentations, and graphical displays.
Position Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and update chemical safety information in chemical inventory database.
- Provide data from chemical inventory database to support chemical hazard analysis by university committees and lab community.
- Ensure requirements are clear, concise and testable.
- Determine user feedback, needs, requirements, and bug reports and recommend ways to improve systems.
- Support the process of translating business needs into formal technical requirement deliverables and timelines.
- Manage reconciliation of lab and facilities room inventories.
- Communicate with users and administrators about how to efficiently and effectively use the chemical inventory system, by answering questions, interactively providing guidance, etc.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate user-friendliness of chemical inventory information technology systems operations.
- Research, develop and analyze metrics for projects and programs.
- Develop metric tracking systems for area to ensure that activities meet scope requirements
- Collaborate with software developers to standardize and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics for users, managers and EH&S administrators.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other scientific or engineering discipline and at least five years of relevant work experience; OR a minimum of nine years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of and experience applying data analytics, data visualization and business intelligence principles
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
- Demonstrated cross-functional project management experience
- Knowledge of relevant business sector
- Strong written, verbal and visual communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
Technology Skills Required
Must be proficient in the use of technology and computers including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be proficient in database management.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting, is a hybrid role, and will be required to work on campus in either Cambridge, Allston, or Boston 1-3 days per week. May occasionally be required to respond to urgent requests off hours.
