Job Description

The Category Management Specialist will hold the responsibility of overseeing and managing commodities and services within specific categories. This position will entail alignment with the organization's strategic goals, ensuring effective sourcing, cost management, supplier supervision, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Leveraging their expertise in category management, the specialist will play a pivotal role in significantly enhancing the efficiency and success of the organization's offshore drilling operations.


In this capacity, the Category Management Specialist will ensure streamlined support for both offshore and onshore scoping needs. They will also take charge of offering data-driven solutions of value to the Category Management team, utilizing approved company tools and processes.


DUTIES:

  • Work with Stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities
  • Develop templates that enables Category Managers to work with data related to vendor activities
  • Negotiate contracts as required on an ad hoc basis to support category managers
  • Develop dashboards, alongside with IT to demonstrate data integrity and areas of opportunities
  • Proactively engage operations to understand how to cross reference data so Supply Chain can support the organization
  • Monitor and provide updates to Category Management team regarding issues and areas of potential risk.
  • Mature knowledge of contractual requirements and templates based on the category being addressed
  • Full understanding of ERP systems, report evaluation and data manipulation
  • Updates price lists for all contractual market baskets required by the Category Management team
  • Perform evaluation on vendor base structure and potential issues.
  • Manage and support the activities related to Category Management analysis, data evaluation and reporting
  • Negotiate with vendors as needed
  • Provide solutions to automation efforts


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master's degree preferred or equivalent business experience.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing and Category Management


SKILLS:

  • Knowledge and analysis of offshore drilling equipment benchmarking and market trend analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of ERP and procurement systems
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to find and analyze data
  • Highly organized with the ability to resolve complex commercial issues
  • Robust team building and interpersonal skills


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A competent ability to manage projects & managing multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • A competence of operating globally is preferred to leverage knowledge and have experience within different countries and jurisdiction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills allowing you to build and maintain good working relationships with your stakeholders
  • Have experience and understand the value of strong Supplier Relationship Management
  • You are strategic by nature and have a strong negotiation mindset
  • You have good understanding of terms and conditions as well as an interest in developing your negotiation skills
  • You adopt and implement a problem-solving mindset
  • You have an analytical mindset where you are familiar with and can regularly conduct sensitivity analysis
  • A broad and medium knowledge and experience across supply chain related activities inclusive of procure-to-pay, logistics, warehouse management and supplier performance management.
  • Significant commercial experience and focus towards building and enhancing commercial models with our key suppliers
  • You have a strong self-drive dedication and pro-active approach
  • You thrive in a busy environment managing multiple activities and ongoing negotiations
  • You are confident navigating in complex and dynamic organizations
  • Rounded business mind set is required to ensure the continual engagement of other internal functions within the process i.e., engagement with tax, human resources, finances etc.
