HealthPartners is currently hiring for Careline Telephone Triage Trainer. They would work in conjunction with the CareLine Education and Quality Supervisor to develop and manage the design, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of new and on-going education and training for all new hires for the CareLine. This position will also assist with on-going training for all CareLine staff.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
New Hires:
- Works with CareLine leadership team to identify competency of new hires.
- Works with Education and Training Specialist to maintain and update current orientation materials and to develop new materials as needed. All orientation materials must be supported by current nursing education best practices.
- Works with CareLine scheduler to create, maintain, and adjust orientation schedules to accommodate the needs of the new hires as well as the CareLine staff.
- Works with Education and Training Specialist and CareLine staff to determine when new hires are able to work independently.
- Delivers educational and training programs to new hires in a way that is consistent with adult learning principles, is flexible towards various learning needs and styles, and provides on-going feedback to the staff.
- Works with CareLine Leadership team to support quality improvement measures.
- Coordinates and directs orientation of new staff in conjunction with the Education and Training Specialist.
- Works in collaboration with the CareLine leadership team to ensure training and education of all new hires into the department.
Current Staff:
- Works with leadership and staff to support education and training sessions for CareLine staff to ensure competencies are being achieved.
- Shows creativity when providing education and training using varied methodologies.
- Maintains current knowledge of HealthPartners educational and training opportunities and promotes attendance at all educational offerings by CareLine staff.
- Assists in maintaining and archiving continuing education content provided to CareLine staff.
- Works with Leadership team to review and develop work flow processes for staff education and development.
Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement activities for new hires by calibrating with other leaders.
- Compile and track trends and patterns at group and individual levels to identify key areas for staff education and training.
- Listen to staff calls and provide feedback during the training period.
- Participates in calibration meetings with quality improvement leaders.
- Collaborate with Supervisors to ensure appropriate progress of new hires through the training period.
Resources/Tools/Technology:
- Maintain and update resources and tools used by front line staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Supervisors and Web Tech Specialist to ensure useful and efficient tools are in place to support front line staff in day to day workflow.
Professional Development:
- Identifies best practices within HealthPartners, other organizations, and applicable literature. Stays current on industry standards.
- Keeps up to date on current evidence-based research in the field of telephone triage and incorporates this into education, training and competencies.
- Identifies and develops multiple ways to deliver education and training.
- Willingly participates in and/or effectively leads various committees, workgroups, and projects as needed and assigned.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and contacts.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality of information in accordance with HealthPartners corporate policies.
- Participates in ongoing independent study, education related professional activities and professional affiliations to maintain knowledge in the areas of telephone triage, customer service, and instructional design.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven ability to design, deliver and implement education and training programs.
- Proven ability in planning, multi-tasking, organizing, prioritizing, time management and advanced problem solving skills.
- Registered nurse with a current nursing license or ability to obtain a license in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa within 60 days of hire.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to accept or delegate responsibility.
- Knowledge of the role of the telephone triage nurse including assessment, use of decision support tools, documentation, and risk management and liability.
- Demonstrated usage of adult learning theory and practices as well as multiple learning methodologies.
- Proven ability to work with individuals 1:1 and in small or large group settings.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
- Proven ability to work in a quickly evolving environment.
- 3 years of nursing experience in a hospital, clinical, or telephone triage setting.
Technical Skills:
- Strong computer skills using Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook in a business environment.
- Experience with Epic or other similar electronic health record.
