Caregiver For Charming, Older Woman (Outer Se Portland)

UCP Oregon is currently seeking a full-time caregiver “Personal Assistant” who will support a charming, older woman who lives in her own apartment in Outer SE Portland and experiences developmental disabilities.
She is eager to work with a personal assistant who can help her build confidence traveling out in the community and help her discover and participate in new interests. She values both time spent at home as well as time out in the community, but she needs lots of encouragement to venture out. She also enjoys listening to music, watching TV and movies, online shopping, Starbucks, The Wizard of Oz, and flamingos.
Each day, you’ll assist with personal care and hygiene tasks, administering medications, cooking meals, and tidying up her apartment. She needs full assistance will activities of daily living such as showering/bathing, dressing, eating, and using her adaptive equipment. You’ll also assist in keeping her engaged in her interests and provide companionship and emotional support as she often needs support processing and regulating her emotions. Several nights per week she has difficulty sleeping through the night so you will likely need to check on her throughout the night during your shift to facilitate calming activities.
Drivers are strongly preferred for this position, but you do not need to use your own vehicle to transport this customer. She will be transported in the UCP accessible van for medical appointments and outings and also utilizes TriMet Lift for outings. Training on the safe use of the UCP van will be provided.
You’ll work one shift per week totaling 43 hours per week: 10pm on Friday through 5pm on Sunday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Drivers strongly preferred—if choosing to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, at least two years of driving experience, and a clean driving record.
• All UCP Oregon employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have an approved medical or religious exception. If you are hired, you will need to provide proof of vaccination (or obtain an approved exception) prior to starting work.
• Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.
• Experience in the mental health or developmental disability field preferred, but not required.
• To meet the client's personal privacy needs, female applicants will be given preference.
