Job Description

Are you a recent grad who is passionate about vocational rehabilitation and human services? Do you love helping people build their confidence and find their dream careers? If yes, you'll be excited to apply for our full-time Career Builder - Employment Specialist position at Families Forward, a Fedcap program. Work in our friendly Brewer, ME office while enjoying our competitive pay and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a 403(b) plan, an employee assistance program, a future mom's program, and life insurance. Join our vocational rehabilitation team and make a difference in your community!

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1935, the Fedcap Group is the parent company of a growing number of top-tier nonprofit agencies dedicated to serving over 300,000 children and adults each year across the United States and the United Kingdom. Families Forward was created to meet the needs of the people in Maine. We're a human services organization committed to helping individuals obtain long-term economic well-being. We work hard to provide access to employment, training, education, and community resources.

Nearly 60% of our staff have lived in Maine for over 20 years. "Mainers" to the core, our team models the strong work ethic and integrity our state is known for. We value each and every employee! This is why we provide competitive compensation, robust benefits, and plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A CAREER BUILDER - EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

As an entry-level Career Builder - Employment Specialist with our human services nonprofit, you develop trust and understanding with program participants while identifying and capitalizing on their strengths, interests, and capabilities. This task is analogous to that of a job matchmaker, where you craft a bespoke Family Contract Amendment (FCA) to facilitate participants' achievement of their employment objectives, both immediate and long-term.

Furthermore, you are not a transitory presence in participants' lives. Instead, you provide ongoing guidance by conducting monthly progress reviews, ensuring they remain on target. In cases where participants miss appointments, you swiftly reschedule to avoid setbacks.

As a vocational rehabilitation specialist, you play a heroic role in ensuring participants have access to comprehensive external support services. By utilizing the data from our sophisticated FedcapCARES program, you plan and coordinate activities seamlessly, guaranteeing flawless execution.

Your professional acumen, demeanor, and comportment are exemplary in representing our human services nonprofit. The most significant reward is the profound impact you make in the lives of our community members, which is incredibly gratifying. Get ready to make a difference in people's lives on a daily basis!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENTRY-LEVEL CAREER BUILDER - EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

  • Valid driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree, higher education, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated track record for providing exceptional customer service
  • Covid-19 vaccination

Fluency in Arabic, Portuguese, Somali, French, or Lingala would be a plus!

Success in this entry-level vocational rehabilitation role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. If you're passionate about helping others overcome obstacles and thrive in their careers, we'd love to hear from you. Apply for this entry-level position at our nonprofit now using our quick and easy online application!
