Who We Are

Founded in 1935, the Fedcap Group is the parent company of a growing number of top-tier nonprofit agencies dedicated to serving over 300,000 children and adults each year across the United States and the United Kingdom. Families Forward was created to meet the needs of the people in Maine. We're a human services organization committed to helping individuals obtain long-term economic well-being. We work hard to provide access to employment, training, education, and community resources.

Nearly 60% of our staff have lived in Maine for over 20 years. "Mainers" to the core, our team models the strong work ethic and integrity our state is known for. We value each and every employee! This is why we provide competitive compensation, robust benefits, and plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT SPECIALIST

As an Employment Placement Specialist at our nonprofit, you use your natural warmth and positivity to help our participants find the best-fit job opportunities. By building trust and rapport, you create enduring relationships with employers and non-profits in the community to provide long-term employment and volunteer opportunities for our participants. You're a master at vocational rehabilitation and will consider each participant's vocational evaluation, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) work requirements, and necessary accommodations to find perfect Work Experience Program (WEP) assignments and employment opportunities.

Using our Fedcap CARES program, you run reports to plan daily and weekly tasks. You find jobs that align with our participant's interests and skills, always ensuring they are at least thirty hours a week. As you work closely with nonprofit partners and employers, you are responsible for following up, answering questions, and mediating concerns to ensure everyone involved is satisfied.

Not only that, but you also facilitate Field Training and On-the-Job training (OJT) that leads to employment opportunities. You're the vocational rehabilitation expert, so you plan hiring events, retention events, and on-site employer panels. You track working participants in their jobs, keep careful records, and validate retention benchmarks at thirty, ninety, and one hundred and eighty days.

Your professionalism and attention to detail in this human services nonprofit role are what we're looking for. Join our team at Families Forward to make a difference in the community and help others succeed!

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday. You can also expect to spend approximately 25% of your time traveling to meet with clients and employers in the community.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE A EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT SPECIALIST?
