Calibration / Metrology Technician Jobs

Job Overview

The Calibration Technician, using approved Standard Operating Procedures and/or Manufacturer's Manuals will calibrate, troubleshoot and/or repair Length, Mass, Volumetric, Time, Pressure, Thermodynamic and loop based Assets that support Manufacturing and Laboratory Processes while maintaining conformance to GMP and international measurement standards.

Scope of Work

• Coordinate the repair of instrumentation and calibration of equipment with 3rd Party Vendors.
• Conduct equipment review following the return of calibrated equipment.
• Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
• Document calibration activities in accordance with ISO 17025 Practices
• Perform other work as required
• May occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Perform calibration, diagnostic and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and/or equipment with little to no supervision.
• Typical 40h work week with occasional need for extended hours and weekend work.
• Ensure timely turn-around time on all instrumentation and equipment calibration services.
• Be able to read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation
• Maintain and review Calibration Certificates.
• May Assist with writing and/or updating procedures to ensure efficiency, standardization, and accuracy.
• Perform or assist in performing suspect equipment investigations.
• Able to conduct calibration work at customer on-sites with little to no direction.
• Ensure that preventative maintenance of equipment is performed in a timely and effective manner.
• Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques.
• Maintain accurate calibration records and standards.

Essential Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient use of a Personal Computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Intermediate Math skills, including algebra, geometry and statistics.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to travel, up to 50% to various client and Intertek sites
• High School Diploma with 4 years applicable experience or 2 year degree in related discipline (i.e. physics/electronic/mechanical) with 2 years applicable experience
• Previous experience with electronic or pressure training preferred.
• Basic understanding of the 7 SI units of measurement
• Knowledge of ANSI/NCSLZ540 or ISO 17025 specifications preferred
• Adheres to Safety Policies, Quality Policies and Practice
• Ability to use mechanical and electrical tools and instrumentation necessary to complete the tasks outlined above
• Formal training in Metrology is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in enclosed and/or elevated spaces
• Ability to withstand long periods of walking/standing
• Ability to lift 25kg (50lbs) repeatedly
• Must have dexterity to handle small fragile objects
• Ability to wear a respirator
