Job Description

Description/Job Summary

Position Objective for Utility Dept Elect Senior

Responsible for operation and maintenance of electrical equipment.


Training

  • Operation and maintenance of 138KV Transformers with associated equipment, 15KV Transformers & Switchgear, 4160V Motor Control Centers, 600V Switchgear & 600V Motor Control Centers


Authority / Decision Making

  • Report to electrical section manager


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Task and Duties
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Do end of day route checks of all utility equipment.
  • Terminate power & control wiring without supervision
  • Consistently demonstrate safety work habits, complete understanding of plant and department safety rules.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
  • Do scheduled PM or repairing work.
  • Experience with High Voltage equipment 138KV/15KV is a plus
  • Trouble shooting electrical problems with utility equipment.
  • Any critical repairs have to be complete before leaving site, be prepared to stay when needed.
  • Able to supervise others when needed.
  • Determine if any abnormal have occurred while recording daily reading & report to manager.
  • Take daily reading of all electrical equipment & instruments without making mistakes.
  • Be able to read electrical schematics & drawings.

  • Machinery and Electrical Devices Used
  • Electrical Tester / Multimeter / Megger, use to check voltage & condition of equipment.
  • Normal electrical & mechanical hand tools needed for routine electrical work.

  • Use of Hi-Pot tester for 15KV cables is a plus
  • Be able to use a PC for electrical data entry & email.
  • Must know how to use Electrical Megger to test cables, motors, & other electrical equipment to determine abnormal situation.
  • Must agree to use & take care of company Cell phone at all times, use to respond to all emergency's day or night.
  • Must know how to use Infra - red heat gun to check equipment for overheating.

  • Physical and Visual Activity Required

Physical

  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods in time. Example: making copies, giving presentations, directing traffic.
  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and the like using feet and legs and / or hands and arms.
  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Degree of lifting: 26 - 50 lbs.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @500Hz, 1000 H, and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in related electrical field.

Electrical controls include working with & trouble shooting Motor Control Centers (MCC's) 4160V (5kv), 480V with 277V, 120V, 24V control power scenarios.
