Buyer, Women’s Fashion

The Cato Corporation is seeking an experienced Women’s Fashion Buyer to join its merchandising team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Initiating the development, purchase and delivery of merchandise assortments
• Communicating merchandise information to appropriate cross-functional team members
• Supervising and training associates and/or assistants
• Shopping competition and company stores regularly
• Managing merchandise receipts and open to buy
• Maximizing merchandise contribution
• Implementing marketing and sales promotion strategy for assigned areas
• Negotiating all aspects of product purchasing with vendors
• Interpreting fashion trends for the customer

REQUIREMENTS:

• Possesses a proven history of successful fashion buying and product development experience
• Must be able to relocate to Charlotte, North Carolina
• Results oriented, creative and analytical
• Minimum of 5 years buying experience
• Excellent managerial/leadership skills
• Proven track record of increasing sales and driving profitability
• Collaborative aptitude
• Prior experience in a specialty retail organization with a product development background
