Buyer - Purchasing Agent

We are currently seeking to fill our buyer position. This position plays a critical role in our manufacturing operation, by ensuring materials and parts are available in time to meet production schedules, expediting orders to accommodate schedule changes, and proactively communicating with vendors to stay on schedule. As you build relationships with your internal customers and outside vendors, you will collaborate with your partners to find mutually beneficial solutions to our procurement needs.

As a buyer you will be actively engaged with our powder coat, silkscreen, electroplating, and machining vendors to bring finished parts to the assembly lines in time to fulfill our commitments to our customers. With experience, you will have an understanding of the processes and capabilities of each outside process vendor and be equipped to work with the vendor to best serve the interests on both sides.

Here's what a typical day in our purchasing department looks like:

• Build and maintain positive working partnerships with vendors
• Track and expedite open orders as necessary to ensure on time delivery in support of our commitments to customers
• Update vendor, product, and subcontracting information in ERP system
• Coordinate outbound and inbound deliveries of outside processing parts, raw materials, and purchased components
• Finding and qualifying new vendors for outside processing items
• Collaborate with vendors to facilitate rework requests, returns, and exchanges in a timely manner
• Verify receipt of orders and work with vendors to resolve shortages or discrepancies against original purchase order
• Request quotes and issue purchase orders for subcontracting/outside processing, raw materials, hardware, shop/office supplies, and other purchases based off of production requirements and due dates

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in our Cerritos, CA office. Starting pay range for our Buyer is $23.00 to $30.00 per hour. This is a fully on-site position.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will meet the following minimum requirements:

• Experience working with an ERP system
• Able to prioritize work according to production schedules and vendor lead times
• Minimum one to three years of related purchasing or planning experience; experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Reliable transportation
• Able to think proactively
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing); bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required
• Work well with minimal supervision
