Job Description

Pay Rate: $26.50/hour or $55,000/year


The Buyer will plan, direct, and control activities related to the procurement of raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, and purchased services.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate and maintain a minimum and maximum and safety stock levels.
  • Participate in annual and cycle inventory counts and ensure accurate recording of unit inventories.
  • Assist with forecasting materials requirements and maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure sufficient supplies to meet production requirements.
  • Expedites open purchase order deliveries to meed production needs
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date parts master database within the ERP system.
  • Sources and negotiates with potential supplier, requests RFQ's, evaluates and analyzes results and recommends suppliers.
  • Confirms and verifies pricing and delivery dates with suppliers and updates information as necessary
  • Place orders ffor other products and services as needed.
  • Place orders for special, non-stock parts to meet critical production demands.

  • Ability to identify problems and think creatively to find solutions
  • Computer knowledge with programs including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage the workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to assertively work with suppliers to get results, while presenting a pleasant and positive personality
  • Ability to communicate with vendors verbally and via email in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision. A self-starter who looks for better ways to get more accomplished without having to be assigned.

Required Education & Experience

  • Solid understanding of purchasing operations, generating purchase orders, supplier communications, shipping and logistics, inventory and order decisions
  • Strong, hands-on experience with ERP and MRP software
  • 1 year experience in a purchasing department
