Job Description

Vertiv is hiring a Sr. Buyer in Anderson, SC who will plan and procure material to meet customer requirements at an optimal cost. Maintaining inventory levels, addressing shortages and supporting product evolution are daily functions. The Senior Buyer will manage the most complex of parts and suppliers for the business. This position is expected to provide informal leadership, training and expertise across all elements of material planning and buying.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate Engineering changes with suppliers, Material Planning and Engineering for purchased parts.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge on parts/commodities managed to aid in expedites and suggest part deviations to resolve shortages and mitigate high risk situations
  • Analyze and help manage supplier held inventories including E&O with a focus on limiting exposure.
  • Secure Corrective actions and Execute RMA process when applicable.
  • Oversee Inventory policy through ABCD classification and use of proper planning parameters.
  • Identify suppliers that should be part of development programs and actively participate in those key projects
  • Prepare management reports on Vertiv and supplier held E&O and make recommendations for reserves
  • Provides availability, pricing, shipping information
  • Generates daily, weekly, monthly metric reports
  • Participate in Cost savings efforts (i.e. Freight, Packaging, Price).
  • Participate in daily production and planning meetings.
  • Work with suppliers overseas and different cultural backgrounds to meet the supply needs of our business.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid potential excess, obsolescence and shortages.
  • Manage supplier held inventory programs
  • Expedite P.O.’s and confirm delivery.
  • Adjust forecasts and planning parameters as required including safety stocks, reorder points, minimum orders etc. in adherence with Vertiv guidelines
  • Train and provide leadership to new associates and act as a back-up for supervisor
  • Work with management to develop and make decision on policies and procedures
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance, days on hand and related quality issues.
  • Resolve supplier & data issues, (i.e. Price discrepancies, invoices discrepancies, receiving issues).
  • Arrange and approve domestic and international expedited/premium freight shipments in collaboration with Logistics team.
  • Make and approve adjustments to planning bills, forecasting and adjust as approved
  • Management of the highest dollar, longest lead-time, highest risk parts and suppliers
  • On board new suppliers by providing training on Vertiv systems and processes
  • Make recommendation on E&O reserves to be held by Vertiv
  • Represent the group in relevant meetings and act as a liaison
  • Build relationships with suppliers and increase Vertiv’s mindshare with the supply base including executive level relationships with the supply base
  • Daily coordination of information between production, purchasing and shipping.
  • Set up, execution and maintenance of ordering parameters and MRP data.
  • The Senior Buyer is recognized as an informal leader within the group

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • English speaking and written communications
  • At least 5 years of experience in a materials management, purchasing or material planning function.

  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work at high levels within organization structures to get mind share with suppliers.
  • APICS or CPM certification is highly preferred for the SR. level position
  • Good understanding of how excess, obsolete, payment terms, ITO and PPV impact business financials.
