Job Description

Summary


The Business Development Manager is responsible for organizing and supporting all aspects of the corporate business development and the go to market strategy (GTM) with oversite by the sales & marketing leader. This includes, but not limited to leading sales and client-relationship management (current account as well as new accounts), tracking new markets, and emerging trends, recommending new products and services, proposing, and developing new strategic partnerships, writing proposals and plans, and guiding long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conducts business with the highest standards of ethical behavior and in compliance with Pennant’s rules and procedures.

• Builds excellent interdepartmental relationships with Pennant personnel at all levels.

• Acts as an effective leader, ensuring that sales programs are results-orientated and goal-driven.

• Sets targets and strategies for achieving business development outputs, simultaneously maintaining progress, and identifying core, adjacent, and new opportunities.

• Work closely with leadership team, VP of Marketing and sales and key account managers to enhance and align efforts.

• Develops and sustains a fact-based, data-driven business development process and establishes systems that engage stakeholders in developing strategic plans for profitable growth in each business segment. (e.g., Heat Map/Hot Spot process).

• Leads product/process development workshops to engage Pennant in exploring market growth opportunities.

• Leads comprehensive analysis across platforms, channels, and markets to determine performance factors, underscore Pennant’s unique features in new markets, and derive actionable recommendations.

• Implements measurable strategies to increase revenue and market penetration profitability, while maximizing the potential of current platform product capabilities and identifying new produce requirements to enhance customer experience and business growth.

• Support channel, segment, and market strategies to enable targeted marketing.

• Advocates for customer-centric thinking, designing programs to cater to target markets, and promotes Pennant’s brand and capabilities through various channels, including trade shows, social media, and print.

• Serve as key account manager for designated accounts until assigned to a house account or specific key account manager.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position may manage outside contract sales agents and potentially other individual contributors as the position develops.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience


Required:


• Associate degree from an accredited college in engineering, science, or business discipline; or equivalent work experience (at least 8 years’ relevant work with a concentration in market development and analysis).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and implementing business development systems and incorporating indirect team participation.

• Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience with one or more of the following:

1. Product portfolio development.

2. Business Development or account management.

3. Market growth strategies and value proposition development.

4. Management of complex, multi-disciplined projects.

• Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience supervising technical project teams.

• Knowledge and experience in the Utilities & Industrial marketplace, preferably in the EV and Solar space.

• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.


Preferred:


• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or marketing.

• Experience in developing business development strategies from the bottom up.

• Experience in developing, implementing, and executing companywide roll out of major projects and processes.

• Knowledge in the industries that we serve: Automotive, Truck, Personal Watercraft, Recreational, Construction, Wastewater, Industrial.

• Candidate resides near one of the Pennant locations is preferred. (Sabina Ohio, Pioneer Ohio, Columbus Ohio, and Lebanon Tennessee.)


Language Skills


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook Contact Management systems; design software; Visual Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software, data research and mining websites and mechanism and MS Word Word Processing software.
