Job Description

Summary of Work

This position will serve as a primary contact for financial institutions and will manage commercial and ag portfolios for the southeast and eastern portions of the state. This role is responsible to field calls from financial institutions on major service issues, collect applicable financial information and will be responsible for representing BND through community involvement and industry events.

Market Analysis/Outreach - 45%:

  • Loan requests are within the program guidelines and overall mission of the bank.
  • Attend various banking and ag related meetings to communicate BND's services and role in the state's development.
  • For non-credit needs, position will introduce product specialist to financial institutions, collaborate on presentations and help facilitate meetings.
  • Loans are structured and maintained to provide profitability and minimize risk to the bank.
  • Increase BND's visibility in both the banking community and the agricultural community.
  • Responsible for building strong relationships with financial institutions in the assigned market. This position will educate financial institutions on BND products and services and will be responsible for identifying needs and how BND products and services can meet those needs.
  • This position requires fielding calls from financial institutions on major service issues and collect annual information from borrowers.

Portfolio Management - 35%:

  • Work with originating lender on modifications to existing loans.
  • Review loan files for documentation deficiencies and exceptions.
  • Maintain delinquency records, problem loan strategies, and loan files.
  • Contact originating lender to provide assistance and guidance in resolving delinquent and workout credits.
  • Maintain, complete, or review necessary computer input records.

Credit Analysis/Approval - 20%:

  • Analyze financial data for credit worthiness, includes spreading financial statements as necessary, calculating ratio and cashflows, and discussing with originating lender.
  • Review computer input sheets upon funding of loan participations.
  • Develop loan packets and makes loan presentations to various loan committees depending upon the size of the credit request.
  • Review commitment or rejection letters to originating lenders.
  • Recommend approval or denial of loan requests to senior management on those requests in excess of business banker's individual lending authority.

Responsibilities include structuring credits, taking loan applications, obtaining financial information, performing site inspections, negotiating rates and fees (service and origination), managing the loan closing package and follow-up on outstanding items in conjunction with the Loan Administration and Credit Administration areas in the loan approval process.

The candidate will be authorized to make loan approval decisions up to current established lending limit thresholds. Incumbent may be required to work extra hours, as needed, for delivery of special projects or to meet deadlines.

Overall, job-related decision making is guided by bank personnel, loan and compliance policies, association data, federal and state laws and regulations, senior management influence and through acquired banking experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires an undergraduate degree with specific emphasis in accounting, banking and finance, business administration, or economics and five years of banking/lending experience. Preferred experience in the area of agricultural lending. Must have the following competencies: Presentation skills, drive for results, self-development, customer focus, ethics & values, negotiating skills, decision quality and functional/technical skills. The underfill of this position would need to meet all the current requirements and have three years of experience.
