Project Overview:
Waymo’s Systems Engineering team is responsible for helping to ensure Waymo’s vehicles comply with state and local driving laws. We’re looking for a Specialist to provide support to Waymo’s Rules of the Road program as Waymo continues to expand its driving domain into other cities and states.
Core responsibilities include:
- Enhance and manage robust, organized documentation for all the above.
- Make recommendations for new testing needed to satisfy new or updated requirements.
- Review existing requirements and determine if updates to AV behaviors are needed to support driving in new jurisdictions.
- Develop and implement tools for enhancing vehicle performance in the field
- Support software and hardware development by analyzing related data and writing reports.
- Oversee and support development of simulations or other test artifacts to verify requirements.
Mandatory Skills:
- Problem-solving, investigation and project management skills.
- BS, MS or graduate degree in a technical field, such as systems engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, computer science, traffic engineering, civil engineering, transportation engineering, aerospace, robotics or related fields.
- Knowledgeable of systems engineering principles and practices as they relate to requirements verification and validation.
- Experience working in quality assurance, systems engineering, test engineering, or compliance in a technical field.
- Experience implementing projects in a demanding, change-oriented environment requiring a high degree of deadline-driven productivity.
- Strong writing, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Extensive experience specifying, creating, and improving tests of autonomous vehicles or similar.
- Familiarity with the traffic engineering, road safety, crash investigation and road design principles, the MUTCD, and driving laws.
Desired Skills:
Data analysis skills (e.g. SQL, python) and data presentation skills (e.g. dashboard development).
Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this position is USD $61.00/Hr - USD $71.00/Hr and is a Non-Exempt role.
Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on circumstances of each case and will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
