Overview:
Under the supervision of the registered nurse, assist in the individualized care of the patient directed toward achieving the patients' highest level of physical and mental wellness. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to nursing care. Assists in unit operational support tasks or duties. Performs duties and responsibilities in manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy service standards.

• Job requires frequent lifting and positioning of patients.

• Must be able to deal appropriately with stressful situations.
• Must have excellent oral and written skills, caring attitude, and assumption of responsibility.

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Completion of one to two years of college undergraduate studies in Psychology or other health related studies. Successful completion of Basic Skills I course within one month of hire or transfer
• Has regular contact with medical and nursing staff and significant contacts with patients and families.
• Experience: Minimum 6 months experience working in a mental health setting.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. If you are not currently employed by Mercy Hospital St. Louis as a PCA/PCT, you must be available to complete a full-time 2 week training class held Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30 pm, immediately upon hire. Upon successful completion of the class component, 100 hours of clinical department training are also required.
