Job Description

Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor is currently searching for a Banquet Manager!

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Banquet Manager to join our team! You will have the chance to experience more than 60,000 of modern and new top of the art installations. You will be the ambassador of the Sunseekers banquet department, while providing customers with an excellent and personalized banquet experience. The Banquet Manager duties include consulting with banquet sales directors, conference and catering managers, and head chefs, determining the number of staff, and planning the layout and setup of venues.

The Banquet Manager is responsible for coordinating the delivery of all food and beverage for functions held in the Hotel and all details pertaining to functions being held in all Banquet and Meeting rooms in keeping with the standards prescribed by management. You will lead with respect and will be an example to our banquet staff in a daily basics. All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Help in preparation of forecast and actual budget function sheets.
  • Completion of function delivery sheets in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Personally demonstrate a commitment to customer service by inquiring about service quality and responding promptly to guest needs.
  • Manage the daily operation of the banquet services department.
  • Control and inventory of Banquet china, cutlery, glassware, linen, and equipment
  • Achieve maximum profitability and overall success by controlling costs and quality of service.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction as the driving philosophy of the Banquet department.
  • Meet financial objectives by monitoring budgeted food sales, beverage sales and labor costs.
  • Participation and input towards F & B Marketing activities
  • Completion of weekly Schedule staff as necessary to ensure adequate and consistent levels of service.
  • Manage a preventive maintenance program for all equipment and control food-borne illnesses.
  • Empower staff to deliver customer service by encouraging and rewarding responsive guest assistance.
  • Meet safety and sanitation standards such as Emergency Plan, CPR/Heimlich training for all employees, proper storing of food, and storing chemicals away from food, etc.
  • Maintain records for inventory, labor cost, food cost
  • Manage the food and beverage service provided during banquets and meetings.
  • Maintain the Hotel Bar control policies and completion of necessary forms including banquet bar requisitions while following proper purchasing/requisitioning procedures.
  • Inspect banquet rooms on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate steps to ensure facilities always meet or exceed Company standards.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services, and new ideas.
  • Stay abreast of property goals in order to create, support, and present departmental goals to executive leadership
  • Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments such as Convention Sales & Services, Facilities, Security, Front Services, Front Office, F&B, Golf Course and Executive Offices
  • Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the hotel industry.
  • Proactively seek guest feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience.
  • Ensure all accounting, payroll and employee relations matters are handled in compliance with company policy.
  • Foster a management team that possesses and delivers on key strategies of guest service, employee relations, team cooperation, financial responsibility and asset management.
  • Manage guest requests and own all complaints; resolve issues immediately and follow up to ensure the guest’s satisfaction.
  • Create ways to further enrich the guest experience by continuously reviewing, implementing and refining procedures to ensure every opportunity to offer extraordinary guest experiences while maintaining a culture of smiles, retention of luxury standards.
  • Perform other functions as needed

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Sunseeker Resorts performs criminal background checks on all candidates. Candidates will need to be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.   • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Banquet manager or similar role in a resort setting.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to all grooming and uniform guidelines, including slip resistant shoes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Long hours sometimes may be required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player with a results-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong self-motivation, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and keeping composure when working with disgruntled or challenging guests.
  • Know the general operations of department and how all hotel departments work together to achieve business objectives and to meet customer expectations.
  • Ability to take direction and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations.
  • Proficiency required in reading, writing, and mathematics, in English.
  • Excellent customer service skills and an ability to communicate effectively, in English (via phone and in-person)
  • Know the commonly occurring challenges of the F&B business and how to overcome them.
  • Able to work unsupervised for extensive periods, and to demonstrate good judgment when dealing with customers and peers.
