Job Description

SUMMARY

Location: Courtyard Long Island MacArthur Airport

Position Type: Non-Management

The starting pay rate for this position is $16.00 per hour.

As a Banquet Houseperson, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of all areas and corridors of the hotel's Banquet.

You must have flexible scheduling availability to include mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Job Requirements:

  • Deliver special request items such as cribs to guest rooms
  • Recognize and report potential safety hazards, such as broken doors or railings, fire hazards, etc.
  • Pick up trash from the parking lot and garden areas
  • Sweep and vacuum floors, hallways, and stairwells
  • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace them on the housekeeping cart when appropriate
  • Know local health and safety codes and regulations that apply to the hotel
  • Rotate linens in storerooms
  • Be readily available and approachable for all guests
  • Notify supervisors of any damages, deficits, and disturbances
  • Deliver soiled linens to the laundry department
  • Understand and follow policies and procedures for the hotel’s key control system
  • Clean furniture, elevators, glass, planters, etc., in public areas, such as the lobby, pool, and public restrooms
  • Take a proactive approach when dealing with guest’s concerns
  • Spot clean walls, carpets, light fixtures, etc.
  • Replenish storeroom supplies
  • Ensure public spaces are cared for according to brand and IHM standards
  • Report maintenance problems or complete work repair orders

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the guests and acknowledge their requests
  • Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement
  • Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
