What We Offer
  • Ph.D./JD students: $36.00/hour
  • Graduate students: $28.00/hour

  • Hybrid work option – This role can be located in any of the PCAOB’s offices and can choose to live and work from anywhere within the United States but will be required to commute to their assigned office or location for occasional intentional gatherings or meetings at the frequency required by their supervisor. Travel to an assigned office or location for commuting purposes will not be considered reimbursable business travel, unless otherwise required by state law. Business travel is reimbursable in an amount not exceeding the cost to travel from the assigned office or location, unless otherwise required by state law.
Role Summary
The PCAOB has a part-time position (working up to approximately 20 hours/week) for a Board Fellow (Fellow) to support PCAOB Board Member Tony Thompson. The position is intended for a graduate or Ph.D. student interested in the auditing profession. The Fellow will report to Board Group Thompson. The term of the position will be for one academic year with the possibility of extension for one additional academic year.
Responsibilities
  • Support the review of Inspections reports and remediation determinations.
  • Assist in certain administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with other PCAOB staff.
  • Support the review of matters before the board in the areas of standard setting and rulemaking.
  • Support the review of Enforcement matters.
  • Support Board Member Tony Thompson in preparing for stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
Education/Technical Expertise
  • Ability to collaborate and promote teamwork, solve problems, and be receptive to new ideas.
  • Ability to stay abreast of current developments and industry trends relevant to accounting and auditing.
  • Ability to use research, analysis, and experience to inform decisions.
  • At least two years of professional work experience.
  • Currently pursuing a graduate-level degree in accounting, or a related field of study.
  • Interest in pursuing a career related to the public accounting and auditing profession.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, take initiative, and be proactive and innovative.
