Job Description
We are seeking an Associate Provost for Student Life & Thriving to work remotely on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis.


Summary


The Associate Provost for Student Life and Thriving (SLT) is charged with developing an integrative and comprehensive student life program leveraging the full complement of academic and student services of the University that centers the adult learner experience within a hybrid/distributed model that integrates the University’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Strategic Plan and aligns with the student experience goals of the Academic Strategic Plan. In collaboration with the Academic Leadership Team, faculty and program leadership, student services staff/leaders, student and alumni groups and networks, the AP for Student Life and Thriving provides critical and timely engagement to prevent, intervene and remediate student concerns as well as provides a pathway toward individual and systemic/structural recovery and resolution as the University’s Ombudsperson and member and/or chair of key university committees whose work shapes the student experience. The AP for Student Life and Thriving, in coordination with the community, develops and sustains a program of student wellness engagement by facilitating connection and coalition building across the university that connects students to student-led groups, platforms student-led extracurricular communities/activities, promotes resources available through the Student Assistance Program (SAP), and other programming/activities to cultivate community belonging and development online and in-person. The AP for Student Life and Thriving oversees the Academic Advisement and Writing Support units with attention to supporting neurodivergent adult learners.


Qualifications


Applicants should have a PhD/EdD in higher education, psychology, educational leadership, or closely related field with the human development, learning theory, mental health and wellness, and systems theory knowledge base required for success in the role.


EXPERIENCE: (Amount and kind)


  • Experience with online and distributed learning education contexts.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in student affairs administration, with direct programmatic work with students and supervision of professional staff supporting student development.
  • Actively involved with the profession through research, professional associations, and service in student affairs/life and/or adult learning.
  • Experience as an Ombudsperson or in a similar role in higher education; Ombudsperson certification.
  • Experience developing a comprehensive student support program for a college/university and/or other setting supporting adult learners and/or working adults.
