This requisition is for a 2nd shift Manufacturing Engineer for the Ground Systems Support Directorate at Kennedy Space Center.
Description Jacobs Technology provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.
This position is responsible for work order development, engineering review, specification review, component selection, and oversight of fabrication. Provide subject matter expertise to technicians during the fabrication, repair, or modification of electrical cables and electrical or industrial control cabinets/panels in support of KSC Exploration Ground Systems (EGS).
Work directly with Design Engineering, Logistics, Work Control, Quality, Configuration Management, Safety, Environmental, and technicians to ensure efficient work flow and timely delivery of customer products. Assess control panels designs and requirements for feasibility in manufacturing to include the overall layout, component wiring, mounting locations on the panel, control panel installation, and verification/validation/ testing requirements. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical failures in equipment and machinery to include electrical controls on CNC type machines, other machine shop type equipment and welding equipment.
- Manufacturing Engineer or Aerospace professional capable of producing an executable work plan to be used in cable, harness and EGSE electrical panel fabrication. Candidate must be technically proficient and capable of providing direction in regard to electrical cable and harness fabrication, assembly and repair.
- Electrical/Mechanical/Pneumatics background is desirable due to aspects of the flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipment.
- Interface with technicians, flow management, project managers, engineering, area integrators, resource providers, planners, schedulers, or other customers to understand need dates, walk down work areas, develop technical plans and respond to changes and issues.
- Review, plan, estimate and coordinate the efficient execution of manufacturing work plans using Maximo and Solumina (planning & execution software).
- Generate electronic work orders detailing the activities required to meet project/repair manufacturing requirements and specifications per the customer's sketches, models, drawings, and direction.
- Identify all necessary shop supplies, job materials, hardware and components and the outsourcing of any manufacturing or required special processes required to produce cables and harnesses.
- Daily review and adjustment of hardware development activities to meet the dynamic needs and changing priorities of the shop.
- Effectively communicate with technicians, engineers, project/flow managers, work control and management on technical interpretation of issues while providing technical assistance during the manufacturing processes.
- Promote and practice safety as a technical representative of the EGSE Cable Shops for Asset Management and TOSC to maintain awareness and implementing all applicable safety practices and ensure a safe, reliable, and well-maintained shop for fabrication of both flight and non-flight hardware.
- Develop and implement solutions to engineering and fabrication problems and verify that optimum quality is achieved on all deliverables.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Applicable Engineering Field, plus a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years progressive, relevant technical engineering experience required. Additional relevant education may be substituted for progressive experience.
Key Duties
- Author cable/harness/enclosure fabrication and assembly work orders per engineering requirements, drawings, and schematics to include:
non-conformance dispositioning, work steps for metal fabrication, component installation, cable fabrication and routing, point to point wiring, assembly, required tooling and personal protective equipment, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical assemblies for continuity, current, functionality, and voltage.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Logistics, Quality, and Configuration Management to ensure timely execution and delivery of quality products. - Diagnose and identify solutions for electrical anomalies or failures of manufactured items, shop equipment, and machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting. - Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. - Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. Work Environment - Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. - Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company - safety standards. Equipment and Machines - Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
- Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
- Full-time regular 2nd shift work hours between Monday-Friday
- Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
Shift work may be required.
