Overview
Responsible for managing employees, either directly or indirectly, who are involved in the scheduling, implementation, and/or execution of the maintenance activities of manufacturing equipment and processes. Also, responsible for managing employees who have direct or indirect involvement in the management and/or improvement of facility and utility systems. Oversees site expansion projects in coordination with Project Engineering to ensure projects are completed on-time, within scope and budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Implement site energy strategy, including but not limited to, reduction / re-use of electricity, natural gas and water.
- Ensures certain facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.
- Provides oversight to the day-to-day running of facilities by staff and vendors.
- Ensures that plant utilities are compliant to cGMP and regulatory requirements and meet all aspects of their designed functions.
- Develops business continuity plans in the event of a major failure to ensure the business can recover quickly and appropriate communication channels are established.
- Responsible for oversight of all internal moves including site plan maintenance, physical relocation and coordination with all related contractors, vendors and equipment.
- Oversees site equipment and facilities maintenance program including but not limited to preventative maintenance, unscheduled maintenance and work order system.
- Direct building space allocation, layout and facilities expansions.
- Develops overall equipment, facilities and utilities maintenance strategy including lifecycle management.
- Responsible for ensuring facilities are maintained as desired through their staff and vendors.
- Responsible for oversight of supply ordering, and related inventory and vendor management.
- Plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications to existing or new space, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
- Manages the department facilities and equipment repairs and maintenance budget(s).
- Oversees all RFP processes for needed architectural firms, contractors, etc.
- May participates in lease negotiations and manages sublease arrangements.
- Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building safety codes.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer-based applications.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in maintenance with five (5) year's experience in facilities management and/or project management.
- Knowledge of FDA regulated industrial environment preferred.
- Seven (7) years of project management experience leading projects.
- Five (5) years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry preferred.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
- Must have good understanding of lease contracts and terms.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
- Good problem solving/decision making skills, a strong sense of urgency, keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in an environment under time and resource pressures.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities.
- Prior demonstrated success with the independent management of tenant improvements, site construction, de-commissioning and move management required.
- Must possess demonstrated supervisory/management skills.
- Prior experience managing site operations for facilities greater than 200,000 square feet.
- Prior experience in the development of business continuity plans and conducting various forms of training related to facility management.
- Excellent knowledge of construction processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction techniques for aseptic environments.
- Facilities Management certificate a plus.
- Must have an understanding of required building codes and safety requirements.
