Position Summary
Assistant Track & Field Coach with a primary focus on throwing events. As an integral part of our team, you will work closely with the Head Coach to develop and implement training programs, provide guidance, and support to athletes, and assist in organizing and overseeing team activities. Successful candidates will have experience competing in and/or coaching all collegiate throwing events. Additionally, as an associate in the department of athletics and recreation is providing a wide range of services for the daily operations of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences 8 intercollegiate sport programs (men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, soccer, track & field), club teams, and recreation/fitness.
Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct and direct camps and clinics for area youth.
• Support roles in athletic department (i.e., game day administration)
• Evening and weekend work is required.
• Assist in planning and execution team of in season and off-season practices.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of groups including student-athletes, coaches, administration, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Work alongside head women’s basketball coach and student athletes to monitor academic performance and eligibility.
• Assist in execution of both in and off-season training program with guidance from the Head Athletic Trainer
• Assist in development and execution of community service and fundraising efforts for program.
• Work in compliance with the Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician regarding student athlete’s care.
• Adhere to all Yankee Small College Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association guidelines
• Assistant with recruitment and selection of student athletes year-round, meeting required roster numbers. Plan and attend recruiting events on campus (admissions, athletics, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of sport and its rules and regulations
• Knowledge of strength & conditioning related to sport.
• Maintain proper coaching certifications. Seek out and attend professional development opportunities.
• Ability to actively participate in practice sessions.
• Knowledge of YSCC , USCAA , NCAA , ECAC rules and regulations
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of groups including student-athletes, coaches, administration, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Required Qualifications

• Previous Collegiate, club, or high school coaching experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Appropriate Coaching certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Collegiate playing experience
• CPR and AED certifications. May obtain during employment.
• Master’s degree

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
