AES Next is seeking a talented Financial Associate to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our AES Next Finance team, you will play a pivotal role in driving our growth investment and incubation program charged with growing new business platforms that transform customer experience and the energy sector as a whole. Your primary responsibility will be to support the financial functions of AES Next and the AES New Energy Technologies Strategic Business Unit, contributing to the achievement of our business goals and financial targets.

The Next Finance Associate will lead financial modeling, planning, analysis, and budgeting and support business case development for AES Next investments. The position is also responsible for other quantitative and qualitative analysis, at the direction of management.


Responsibilities:


• Lead financial modeling, planning, analysis, and budgeting for AES Next investments, including the development of comprehensive financial models.

• Design, build, and utilize financial and valuation models, such as DCF and earnings models, to evaluate new opportunities and businesses within AES Next.

• Collect, validate, synthesize, and interpret data from confidential and public sources to assist in analysis, providing valuable insights to support decision-making.

• Develop a deep understanding of AES corporate and business structure, financials, valuation, credit ratings, strategy, capital costs, and tax positions for transaction assessments.

• Stay updated on long-term and emerging sector trends in the clean energy industry, analyzing their impact on our strategy and identifying opportunities for innovation.

• Prepare and deliver clear and compelling presentations and reports to communicate findings, recommendations, and financial insights to stakeholders.

• Support capital allocation decision-making process by preparing updated financials and valuations

• Collaborate with a diverse network of AES collaborators to support portfolio and business analysis, leveraging their expertise and insights.

• Assist the financial planning team as needed in projects such as budget cycles and long-term plan discussions.

• Engage professionally with other AES groups and businesses to gather information, validate analyses, and facilitate internal and external due diligence.

Skills and Qualifications:


• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering, or other analytical disciplines. MBA or other relevant Master's Degree is highly preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in energy or finance, with a strong analytical background.

• Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and an innate intellectual curiosity.

• In-depth understanding of financial statement mechanics and business valuation theory.

• Strong proficiency in financial modeling using Excel. Experience with Anaplan and the SAP suite of products is a plus

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in creating creative and compelling slide decks using PowerPoint, effectively conveying complex information in a visually appealing manner

• Familiarity with financial research tools, such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and Thomson One is desirable.
