Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager (Commercial Construction)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Assistant Project Manager with Commercial Construction experience to join our dynamic team. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful execution of commercial construction projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and various stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial construction and possesses excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of commercial construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  2. Coordinate and communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other project team members to ensure project objectives are met.
  3. Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  4. Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, resolve any issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  5. Assist in the procurement process, including obtaining bids, reviewing proposals, and negotiating contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
  6. Manage and maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, submittals, and other project-related records.
  7. Facilitate effective communication among project team members, ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed about project status, changes, and updates.
  8. Assist in the resolution of conflicts and disputes that may arise during the construction process.
  9. Collaborate with the Project Manager to identify and mitigate risks, anticipate potential challenges, and develop appropriate contingency plans.
  10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager in commercial construction projects.
  3. Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, techniques, and best practices.
  4. Familiarity with construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Bluebeam).
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
  7. Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  8. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  9. Familiarity with relevant local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  10. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) are a plus.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for the Assistant Project Manager position is $80,000 to $110,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
